"It was a new discovery for me. I hadn't watched any of the early German musicals or comedies, that were made under the Third Reich. Which I found out through my research, mostly they did a few antisemitic movies and they did a few pro-nazi Hitler Youth movies, but for the most part their movies were there to get the German population's mind off the war. They went in for a whole lot of comedies and umpappa-musicals and romances. I found a couple of really cool songs that could play really good in the film."

"Lilian Harvey is terrific. She was a terrific comedian, she was a wonderful singer. Her and Willy Fritsch were the sweethearts of Germany. And then later she even went to America for a little while, did a few movies in America, went back to Germany, and then, when she left Germany at a certain point, she became completely persona non grata. It was actually against the law to mention her name in Germany."

"And then Zarah Leander was in so many ways the actress-diva of Nazi Germany and were kinda like their poster girl. There are actually rumors that exist to that day that she was a double agent for the Sowjet Union."
